My Smithy would randomly power off, so I took the switch apart. What a mess! (Click on any image for the massive original)
I finally got new switches! I modified the original panel and squeezed them in:  But I still need to wire them up with the new relay:  I noticed that the two holes on the back of the lathe bed, where the motor mounts, are threaded. It would be nice to find some plastic plugs that fit in there, so I can make a tighter seal around the wires:  Found some cable glands to fit in those holes! Thanks to Ned Seiths from the Smithy Machines Yahoo! group for correctly guessing they are 20x1.5mm.  Pulled the wires through (after modifying one gland to fit the large cable going to the motor) and hooked everything up:
